pack for a purpose

with 2 Comments

I was thrilled a while back to discover the type of charitable organization that I wanted to align my family and business with.  Although my children are young, I found the methodology behind Pack for a Purpose® something they could easily understand, especially since it involved supporting a community project and children.  It also led to many discussions with my 7 year old about why he should look at his education as a privilege and not repeat the same mantra every morning “I hate school ! “.

As promised in an early post, here is how it went, and it could not have been easier.

  • Via the Pack for a Purpose® website, we located a hotel in the area we were traveling to that supported a community project (the lovely Fairmont Mayakoba in Mexico)
  • We worked as a family to put together a package based on the project needs.
  • We contacted the hotel via Twitter to arrange a drop off.
  • When in the area we popped by the Fairmont Mayakoba to deliver our package. (Ironically, we had we planned to book this hotel had we been able to stay in the area longer, so it was great to have a chance to look at this lovely family friendly property.)

Here it is in photos:

through amazon we were even able to find some books and games in spanish
