Escape to Woodnest Treehouses in Odda, Norway

Once in a while, my travel passions align. If you have followed this site for a while, you will know that I have a real weak spot for unique and unusual accommodations. When those unique and usual accommodations (in this case, a pair of gorgeous treehouses) happen to be located in one of my favourite countries – Norway, well, then my interest is really piqued!

I stumbled across Woodnest Treehouses just as the world was shutting down to travel for a while. Getting to the little town of Odda, Norway would be an near impossibility for the next 15+ months (except for a few lucky locals). That didn’t stop me, however, from putting them on my bucket list for a future Norway trip (and becoming quite an avid follower of their inspiring Instagram feed).

About Woodnest Treehouse Hotel Norway

Designed by the award-winning Norwegian architectural firm Helen & Hard, these beautifully crafted treetop cabins are made from local black alder and built to resemble “kongler” (pine cones). The interiors are thoughtfully furnished with gorgeous fabrics, hand-crafted Norwegian Eikund chairs, and local, environmentally-friendly toiletries.

While you might expect to have to forgo a few creature comforts when staying in a treehouse – not so at Woodnest. Each treehouse comes equipped with high speed wifi, in-floor heating, a small kitchenette, a shower and the all-important flushing toilet.

While at Woodnest, you can choose to simply relax, listen to the sounds of nature and enjoy the stunning view, or alternatively, embark on an ambitious hike. The trailhead to Norway’s famous Trolltunga (Troll Tongue) is only a 25 minute drive away.

The Details

The treehouses are ideal for 2 guests but can sleep a cozy 4. Children are welcome (but must be supervised at all times due to the cliffside landscape and steep stairs). Rates from 3200 NOK/night (~$390 USD). Learn more at woodnest.no.
