It has taken me years, but on a recent trip to Barbados I finally got around to booking a family photoshoot with a company called Flytographer. I was tired of trying to coerce my children and husband into standing nicely for photos, when they really just wanted to play (yes, all of them). I also longed for a family photo that I was actually part of and where my whole head was represented. It doesn’t seem like a tall order, but trust me, I have tried, and it was time to bring in a professional.
Flytographer works like this. You go to their site, select your destination (they have 160 to choose from), choose a photographer, and decide on your package. We went with the shortest (1/2 hour for $250 USD), choosing “Andrew” as our photographer on Barbados. The process was very easy, with both Flytographer and Andrew getting in touch with us prior to our shoot. I especially appreciated the wardrobe tips offered, so as to avoid looking like a smaller version of the Von Trapp family. Within a few days (before we were even home), I had the lovely photos in my inbox. Here are just a few:
Now just for the sake of comparison, let me show you another photo from our trip. A kind lady on the beach offered to take my photo with the kids. This is the BEST ONE. The funny thing is, we stood facing her the whole time I thought she was taking our photo.
It’s subjective of course, but I think this one from Flytographer is better.
Need a gift for a family with wanderlust? A Flytographer gift certificate is perfect. In fact, they were recently named as a top travel gift by both Forbes and TripAdvisor.

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this review and we paid for this photoshoot in its entirety. If you use the link on this site to make a booking, I do get a small credit towards a photoshoot in the future.
